At that time I was simply so happy with the news that I got the intenrship offer, that I didn’t think to request important information. Back then it was enough for me to know the firm where I was about to intern in. Nowadays I am aware that my attitude was rather a huge mistake. Unluckily, I believe that this lesson was in fact the only useful thing I learnt from this entire experience.
Earlier I thought that during the internship I would learn that kind of knowledge and skills that are transferable also to another similar position. Unfortunately, during this internship I was mainly conducting those tasks that no other employee was interested to conduct. I know that somebody always gotta to do those things , but at the same time I would love to learn something useful during the intrnship.
Sadly, I didn’t. In fact I learnt a lot about NY city and its surroundings as I was helping other employees conducting the most boring things that they did’t want to do. Ironically, I learnt where to do cheap custom printing nyc or where to find best coffee in the town. However I don’t believe that this is the type of knowledge I should gain as an intern.
Second, they didn’t pay me any salary. I am aware that I was not a professional thus I don’t have any precious experience they can need, but I was still doing some things they would pay for their workers to conduct. Therefore, I really think that they should reimburse me at least symbolic amount of money. Only to confirm that they appreciated my commitment.
